Chelsea are preparing to offer defender Josh Acheampong a new long-term contract with an improved salary as they seek to keep him at the club.

The 20-year-old Englishman’s current deal runs until 2029, but Chelsea are reportedly keen to secure his future with improved terms. Transfer News Live, citing TEAMtalk, says the club intends to make a renewed contract proposal.

Acheampong has attracted interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Newcastle.

The defender is valued at €30m by Transfermarkt. Primarily a centre-back, he can also operate in a defensive wide position.

Acheampong has made seven appearances for Xabi Alonso’s team this season.
