CAF Names Gabonese Referees for Rivers United Champions League Clash
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a Gabonese officiating team for Rivers United’s CAF Champions League preliminary-round first-leg encounter against FC San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro, with kick-off set for 4:00 pm local time, 5:00 pm in Nigeria.
Gabonese referee Cregue Flaury Moukagni has been selected as the centre referee and will be assisted by compatriots Amos Abeigne Ndong and Junior Assoughe.
Pierre Ghislain Atcho, also from Gabon, will serve as the fourth official.
Benin’s Innocent Atindehou has been appointed Match Commissioner, while Algeria’s Mohamed Lamine Benaissa will work as the Referee Assessor.
The encounter forms part of the first-leg preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, with Rivers United aiming to secure a favourable result in Côte d’Ivoire before the return fixture.
The Nigerian representatives will be hoping for a disciplined performance against FC San Pedro as they seek to take an early advantage in the two-legged tie.
