Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is expected to withdraw from the Denmark squad after suffering a thigh injury in the club’s 3-1 LaLiga victory over Sevilla.

The former Chelsea player was substituted on the hour mark at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick confirmed after the match that Christensen will be unavailable for several weeks.

“He will be out for a few weeks with a thigh injury,” Flick said.

The injury means Christensen is set to miss Denmark’s upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, including their double header against Wales and further matches against Norway and Portugal.

Barcelona are due to return to action at home against Getafe on October 10th. That fixture could come within Christensen’s recovery period, although his availability will depend on how his rehabilitation progresses during the international break.
