Awoniyi scores as Coventry City beat Sunderland 3-1

Taiwo Awoniyi scored as Coventry City secured a 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

Sakamoto put Coventry ahead in the 17th minute before Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Awoniyi doubled the hosts’ advantage with a well-taken finish 20 minutes later.

Coventry extended their lead seven minutes after half-time when Rudoni made it 3-0 in the 57th minute.

Sunderland reduced the deficit through Enzo Le Fee, who converted a penalty, but Coventry held on to claim another positive result.

Awoniyi’s goal ensured he made a valuable contribution to his side’s winning performance.
