Aubameyang matches Ibrahimovic record with fifth successive La Liga goal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored in each of his first five Spanish league appearances for Deportivo after netting the equaliser against Getafe last weekend.

The Gabon international is only the third player in the 21st century to score in five or more consecutive league matches at the start of his career with a new club.

Walter Pandiani holds the record for the longest such run. The Uruguay forward scored in six successive matches for Deportivo after returning to the club in 2003.

Aubameyang’s achievement matches that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who found the net in each of his first five Spanish league games for Barcelona in 2009.

Aubameyang has also previously played for Barcelona, where he scored regularly during his time at the club.
