Arsenal agree terms for Georgia prospect Andria Bartishvili in summer move
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Georgian midfielder Andria Bartishvili, with the player expected to join the reigning Premier League champions next summer after turning 18.
The reported move was shared on social media by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. According to the report, Bartishvili has already completed his medical examination and the two parties have agreed the details of the transfer.
Bartishvili will become an Arsenal player next summer, when he reaches the age of 18. The London club, known as the Gunners, are therefore understood to have secured an agreement for the highly rated Georgian prospect ahead of his move to England.
The midfielder is currently playing for Iberia 1999 on loan. His existing employment contract with the club is due to expire at the end of this year.
Bartishvili’s current market value is estimated at €1.5m. The available information does not specify the fee Arsenal have agreed for the transfer, but the reported agreement covers the details required for him to join the club next summer.
Arsenal are the reigning champions of the English Premier League, and Bartishvili’s proposed arrival would add a young Georgian midfielder to their squad structure. At present, however, the transfer remains a reported development based on information circulated by Romano.
The 17-year-old will continue his current spell with Iberia 1999 before the planned move. Once he turns 18 next summer, he is expected to complete the switch to Arsenal, subject to the final stages of the agreement.
Bartishvili’s contract situation has also influenced the timing of the move. His deal with Iberia 1999 ends in December this year, while his loan arrangement means he is currently representing the club despite being contracted elsewhere.
The report identifies Arsenal as the midfielder’s next destination and says the key parts of the deal have already been settled. His medical has been successfully completed, while the remaining timeline means the move is scheduled for next summer rather than an immediate transfer.
No further details about the length of Bartishvili’s proposed Arsenal contract or his initial role at the club have been provided.
