Aouchiche eyes another Algeria victory as Burundi await in AFCON 2027 qualifier

Algeria midfielder Adel Aouchiche says the national team are determined to complete a second successive victory against Burundi when the sides meet in the second round of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying on Tuesday.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday before the match, Aouchiche said Algeria’s task was not yet complete.

“Our work is not finished and we are striving to win our second victory against Burundi,” he said. “I always try to give my best, whether with the national team or at club level.”

The Schalke midfielder is waiting for an opportunity to make his first start for Algeria. His only appearance for the national side came as a substitute in a friendly against Guatemala, which Algeria won 7-0 in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Aouchiche will hope to be named in the starting line-up for the qualifier, with Algeria travelling to face Burundi at the home side’s stadium on Tuesday.
