Andoni Iraola backs Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz amid criticism

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has defended Florian Wirtz, saying the attacking midfielder plays an important role in the team’s build-up despite regularly facing criticism.
Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer in the summer of 2025 in a €125m transfer. The 23-year-old Germany international has since made 56 appearances for the Reds in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists.
