Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has recalled how he decided to leave the club after receiving an unexpected contract extension notice.
Herrera said he had expected to discuss a new deal after being named the club’s player of the season. Instead, he received a letter informing him that his existing contract had been automatically extended for one year.
The Spain international spent five years at Manchester United, winning four trophies during his time at the club, including the FA Cup.
Herrera left Manchester United as a free agent in the summer of 2019 and joined Paris Saint-Germain.
