Ajibade joins Super Falcons camp as Comoros prepare for Olympic qualifier

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade is among seven players to have joined the Super Falcons squad ahead of Friday’s 2028 Olympics qualifying match against Comoros, taking the number in camp to 21.

Defender Michelle Alozie, midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne and Jennifer Echegini, and forwards Folashade Ijamilusi and Janet Akekoromowei also arrived with Ajibade. Five more players are expected to report by Tuesday evening.

The fixture will take place at 18:00 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo. It is the first leg of the tie, despite originally being scheduled to be played in Comoros.

The Confederation of African Football has appointed Henriette Byukusenge of Rwanda as referee. Her compatriots Sandrine Murangwa, Regine Mukayiranga and Aline Umutoni will serve as first assistant, second assistant and fourth official respectively.

Namibia’s Fransiska Katjaimo has been appointed referee assessor, while Oumou Sy of Burkina Faso will act as match commissioner.

Comoros begin preparations

The Comoros senior women’s national team arrived in Ijebu-Ode on Monday night and were due to hold their first training session in Ikenne-Remo on Tuesday evening.

The Super Falcons’ current squad includes goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma and defenders Farida Abdulwahab, Sandra John, Tumininu Adeshina, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet, Shukurat Oladipo and Glory Ogbonna.

The midfield options are Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Favour Omenazu, Joy Igbokwe, Jennifer Echegini, Fatimoh Solaty and Suliat Abideen.

In attack, the players currently listed in camp are Rasheedat Ajibade, Shakirat Moshood, Blessing Nkor, Sandra John, Folashade Ijamilusi and Janet Akekoromowei.

The five players still expected are goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie and Comfort Erhabor, together with forwards Gift Monday, Joy Omewa and Uchenna Kanu.
