Aduku Declares Falconets Ready for 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup
Falconets head coach Moses Aduku has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after Nigeria played out a 1-1 draw with South Korea in their final warm-up match in Poland on Tuesday, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.
Aduku confirmed that his squad has no injury concerns as the Falconets completed their preparations ahead of their opening Group F fixture against Spain.
“So far, so good. We are done with our friendly games. For me, we are good. No injury worries. My girls are ready,” Aduku said after the match.
The result followed Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over hosts Poland in Brzeg on Friday, with Mary Mamudu once again finding the net after scoring the decisive goal in the previous encounter.
The Falconets took the lead against South Korea before the Asian side restored parity from the penalty spot in the 78th minute, leaving Nigeria with one win and one draw from their two-match preparation programme in Poland.
Despite the result, Aduku admitted that his side had opportunities to claim victory while acknowledging the quality of their opponents.
“It was not a bad game. For me, the game was so good. We lost one or two scoring chances to win the game, but all the same, I respect the Korean team. They are also a good side,” he added.
Goalkeeper Effiong Bright Etim also praised the performance of her teammates, while stressing the importance of maintaining concentration and fighting until the final whistle.
“They played very well, and if I am to rate them, I’ll give them 95 out of 100,” Etim said.
“What I learnt is that we shouldn’t give up, even if we’re leading. We shouldn’t give up, no matter what. Play till the end, that’s what we did.”
Nigeria will now shift their attention to the World Cup, where they are drawn in Group F alongside Spain, China and New Caledonia.
The Falconets will face Spain in their opening group game next Monday before taking on China in Sosnowiec on Thursday, September 10, and New Caledonia in ?ód? on Sunday, September 13.
