“I told the NFF not to make a pronouncement” Sports Minister on Osimhen-Finidi sagger
The minister for sports, John Enoh had claimed he’s reason why the Nigeria Football Federation have been quiet over the unruly expression of Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Osimhen in defending himself over the claim of deliberately absconding from the team in the June 2026 FIFA qualifying series went overboard, calling out the former coach, Finidi George on social media for selling him out.
This attitude has been tag indiscipline by many calling the NFF to make example out of the Napoli striker.
However, Hon. Enoh has in dauzing the tension stopped the country’s football governing body not to make a statement in relation to the issue until it engage Osimhen.
“There has been a plethora of opinions on this,” he said on Eagle7 FM Radio via Daily Post.
“Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria, but it was a low.
“I told the NFF not to make a pronouncement on this before they have engaged Osimhen.
“This is so especially because these are not the best of times for Nigeria football and we have to manage a lot of things.
“The NFF have to be focused and not be distracted.”
