Newly appointed Rivers United coach Finidi George has committed himself to returning the club to the summit of Nigeria's football where they'd been for years, writes Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Finidi on Wednesday got unveiled as the new head coach of Rivers United, a decision taken to help the team better their performances from the just concluded season.

Speaking during his unveiling, Finidi George said: "I am honoured to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me. I am committed to working hard and making the team win."

Rivers United parted ways with long-serving tactician Stanley Eguma towards the end of last season after poor run of results both in Africa and home front, crashing out of the CAF Confederation Cup and placing bottom of the league table.

Finidi who scooped the league title from Rivers United while at Enyimba during the 2022/23 abridged league season will hope to return the title to Port Harcourt at the end of next season.
