Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe could be without the services of David Brooks until the beginning of November as the midfielder has picked up an ankle injury.

The Wales international is set to have an operation on the problem which he sustained during Saturday's 3-1 pre-season victory over Brentford.

It is another blow for Howe as Lloyd Kelly is also expected to miss the start of the season with ankle ligament damage. The Cherries signed Kelly from Bristol City for £13million in May but he picked up the injury in training on Monday.

Simon Francis, Lewis Cook, Junior Stanislas, Charlie Daniels and Dan Gosling are also expected to miss Bournemouth's first game of the new campaign against Sheffield United on 10th August.

Meanwhile, Howe is close to confirming the signing of Club Brugge forward Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld.

The 22-year-old is believed to have passed a medical ahead of a reported £13.7million move.

The Netherlands international has scored six times in 25 appearances for Brugge having come through the youth system at PSV Eindhoven.

He has represented his country on two occasions and scored against Belgium 10 months ago.

Bournemouth, 10/3 to finish in the top half of the Premier League table this season, can be backed at 17/20 to beat Sheffield United in nine days' time and at 9/1 to record a 2-0 victory against the newly-promoted Blades.
