Highlights Of 2022 NWFL AGM Communique
The Communique of the 2022 Annual General Meeting/Congress was held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Saturday, June 25, 2022, Nigeriasoccernet can report.
The Congress commended the leadership of the board of the Nigeria Football Federation, led by the president, Amaju Pinnick, for giving the NWFL the backing to succeed in the 2021/2022.
The NWFL Congress thanked the Executive Governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Douye Diri, for hosting the 2022 NWFL AGM/ Congress. And for his commitment towards the development of women's football in Bayelsa State and indeed, Nigeria.
The Congress highlighted the importance of the Club Licensing which shall be opened alongside Registration of players for the new season from the 4th of July to 5th August. And the date for the league kick-off won't be postponed.
The Congress resolved that players transfer in the coming season must be very transparent using the international system.
It was agreed by Congress that, the official registration for the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership League season will start on July 4, 2022 and close on August 5, 2022. No late registration will be entertained.
The NWFL Congress resolved that the NWFL Premiership League 2022/2023 season will kick off on September 14, 2022 across the country.
It was agreed by Congress that the NWFL will try it's best to protect the integrity of the league by ensuring fair officiating of all matches that will be played in the Premiership. Noting that aside from demanding for fair officiating, the League board will also engage the services of match assessors for all games that will be played.
The Congress agreed that, the NWFL Premiership League 2022/2023 will be played on abridged format of two groups A and B of seven teams each, with each of the teams drawing at least one bye. The league will be concluded by the Super Six to decide the seasons champions, just as it was done in the previous season.
It was agreed that clubs comply with international best practices in areas of players welfare and remuneration.
The Congress passed a Vote-of-Confidence on the leadership of the Aisha Falode board of the NWFL. And further passed a vote of confidence on the Club Owners Association headed by Matilda Otuene for the good work done on the clubs in past seasons. It also commended the Aisha Falode led league board for helping to get desired sponsorship for the NWFL Premiership regular season and Super Six.
Congress ratified the promotion of two NWFL Championship clubs; Heartland Queens of Owerri and Ibom Angels of Uyo to the NWFL Premiership. And the relegation of two NWFL Premiership clubs; Sunshine Queens of Akure and Pelican Stars of Calabar, to the NWFL Championship. As well as confirm the promotion of four NWFL Nationwide teams; Lakeside Queens FC of Lagos, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens of Lagos, Imo Strikers of Owerri and Delta Babes of Asaba, to the NWFL Championship. And lastly confirm the relegation of two NWFL Championship teams; Royaltoms International FC of Lagos and Beautiful Tours Angels of Abuja, to the NWFL Nationwide.
