Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak have made a solemn remembrance of the country's former President John Evans Atta Mills who passed away whilst an active President three years ago.

The passing of the Professor Mills, who shockingly died on July 24, 2012, was marked across the length and breadth of the country and Hearts of Oak did their own with post on their official social media pages.

After years of being a staunch supporter of the 2000 African champions, the late Professor led Hearts of Oak's board as chairman, building the figures of renowned administrators like Harry Zakkour and other big Hearts of Oak personalities.

The Phobians used their official Instagram account to share a picture of him in Hearts of Oak colours and posted a solemn comment in remembrance of his legacy at the club.

Among his many accolades, the former President was an ardent supporter of Sports development in Ghana as he built a new hockey complex in Accra for the sport's development.

REMEMBERED: Three years ago today, His Excellency John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana, and one of Accra Hearts of Oak's most illustrious sons bid us an unexpected farewell. He is gone, but we will never forget the services John Evans Atta Mills rendered our club, his club, Accra Hearts of Oak. Continue to rest in peace, Mr. President. #PHOBIA TILL WE MEET AGAIN. #GoneButNeverForgotten
