Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane has agreed a new contract with Bayern Munich that will keep him at the Bundesliga champions until 2029.

Reports say the England captain’s salary will make him the highest-paid player in Europe, while David Ornstein has described the agreement as the most lucrative contract in Bayern Munich’s history.

Kane, who scored 73 goals for club and country last season, has been rewarded for his performances since joining the German champions and has committed his future to the club for the next few years.

“I feel at home at FC Bayern: I love the club, the fans, the city of Munich – we have a fantastic team and a fantastic coach in Vincent Kompany. It makes me very proud to be part of this club,” Kane said.

“My whole family is very happy here, I wanted to stay, I'm looking forward to the future and want to win many more titles with this great club.”

The 33-year-old became the first player from England to win the Ballon d'Or since Michael Owen 25 years ago last week. His award followed a campaign in which he helped Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga for a second time as well as the German Cup.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said the extension provided certainty over the club’s future planning and underlined their ambition.

“This key contract extension gives us planning security: It sends a signal that the biggest goals are possible at FC Bayern. Players like Harry Kane give a team unique opportunities,” Eberl said.

“We are very pleased that he will continue to be a defining figure who helps determine the direction here, and with whom we can further shape our squad in the future.”

Kane has finished as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer in each of his three seasons at Bayern Munich, scoring 102 goals in 102 appearances. No player in the history of the league had scored more goals after their first 100 matches.

He has also won the European Golden Shoe twice, in 2023/24 and 2025/26.

Kane scored in 10 successive Champions League appearances before failing to find the net against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. That ended his run one match short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record.

European success will now be among Kane’s priorities as he seeks to help Bayern Munich win the Champions League for the first time since 2020. The club were eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain last season.
