Esperance defender Harrison Afful refused to celebrate his goal against Hearts during their CAF Confederation Cup first leg tie on Sunday.
The Ghanaian international scored the third goal for the Blood and Gold as they thumped the Phobians 4-0 in Rades.
Afful, a former Asante Kotoko great, refused to celebrate his goal out of respect for Ghanaians and the Phobians.
The manner in which he decided not to celebrate was a grandiose statement of his affection for Ghana football.
The 28-year-old was a thorn in the flesh of the visitors, delivering a fabulous performance against a club from his native country.
The Black Stars defender, who is set to leave Esperance at the end of the season, will be involved during the return leg in Accra in two weeks.
