Former Super Eagles coach and technical director, Amodu Shaibu’s corpse has left the Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin in a convoy for his hometown, Okpella.

Amodu who died this morning in Benin City is scheduled for burial today according to Islamic rites.

However, here are fifteen things you probably may not have known about Shaibu:

3. His playing career ended after he broke his leg

4. Amodu managed a number of club sides in Nigeria, such as BCC Lions, El-Kanemi Warriors, and Shooting Stars.

5. He also managed Orlando Pirates in South Africa.

6. He first managed the Nigerian national team from April 2001 to February 2002.

7. He did not receive a formal letter confirming his dismissal after a month and later stated that his dismissal was “unfair”.

8. He was re-appointed manager in April 2008.

9. In December 2009 the Nigeria Football Federation stated that Amodu was under pressure, and in January 2010 there was speculation about his future.

10. He was sacked in February 2010.

11. In May 2013, He was appointed technical director of Nigeria’s national teams.

12. He was re-appointed Nigeria manager in October 2014, replacing the late Stephen Keshi.

13. It was his fifth spell in charge of the country’s national team after which the Keshi returned to the role two weeks later. Amodu took over temporarily as the manager of the Eagles again after the late Keshi was fired in July 2015.

14. He was replaced by Sunday Oliseh on a permanent basis later that month.
