Hansi Flick has moved into the top five among Barcelona managers for the number of matchdays spent at the top of the league table.

As he begins his third season in charge, Barcelona have led the standings for 61 of the 81 rounds played during Flick’s tenure. That is the fifth-highest total in the club’s history.

Flick is just behind Rinus Michels, whose Barcelona sides were top for 63 matchdays. Ernesto Valverde is next on 80, followed by Frank Rijkaard on 85.

The record belongs to Josep Guardiola, who guided Barcelona to the summit for 87 matchdays across four full seasons.

If Flick maintains his current rate, he could finish four seasons with around 120 matchdays in which Barcelona have occupied first place.
