Guardiola hails Citizens recovery
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola heaped praise on his players after a 2-0 win at Everton took them back to the top of the Premier League standings.
The Citizens are ahead of Liverpool on goal difference, although they have played one more game than the Merseysiders, with Spurs in third place - five points adrift having played a game less than City.
A few days ago we could have been seven points behind, now we are top of the league.

Just over a month ago City beat Liverpool 2-1 to avoid dropping a possible ten points off the pace and Guardiola is delighted with the work of his squad in recent weeks.
He told reporters: "The reality is we could have been ten points behind one month ago when we played Liverpool. A few days ago we could have been seven points behind, now we are top of the league.
"The lesson is never give up. That is a lesson for all athletes. Try to win the games, because life can change immediately.
"There are a lot of contenders to fight for the title and there are a lot of games to go. We will drop points and hopefully our opponents will also.
"We came from 100 points and champions last season and then we are in a situation where we could have given up, but it didn't happen.
"These players have shown incredible desire and performances for the last two years. How could I question them?"
The Citizens are now priced at 8/11 to retain their Premier League title, with Liverpool available at 11/8 and Tottenham 16/1.
