Akwa United vice-captain and goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode has said cash and house gifts to the team by Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for winning the 2015 Federation Cup will motivate them in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Akwa United struggled to survive relegation in the league but finished the season on the high by clinching a historic Federation Cup to qualify for the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup.

The governor announced a reward of two million Naira and a house for each member of the club after the cup win.

"We are happy with the state governor's gesture to us for winning the Federation Cup,” said Kayode.

"The reward is going to motivate the team very well to achieve greatness next season and in the CAF Confederation Cup."
