Gomes completes Hornets U-turn
Veteran Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has signed a new one-year contract with Javi Gracia's team.
It had been thought that last month's FA Cup final loss to Manchester City was Gomes' last match for the Hornets, but the Brazilian goalkeeper has had a change of heart and signed up for another campaign.
In March he had said that he was 99 per cent sure he would retire this summer.
"I couldn't say no to the club because they did approach me again the way they did when I first signed for them," said the 38-year-old. "I'm still feeling like I'm beginning.
"I'm still around for one more year and, to be honest, I'm very happy to be here again. I thought it was the end, but maybe it's just the beginning - maybe the best is still to come.
"I was 99 per cent sure, it was more than 99, but I gave one per cent and this one per cent, God works on it and he did again. I'm so happy. I'm so happy."
Watford are available at 10/11 to beat Brighton on the opening weekend of the Premier League season on 10th August while they can be backed at 11/4 to finish in the top half of the table in 2019/20.
