Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Boakye scored a priceless lone strike for Varbergs as they won narrowly against Östersunds FK in the Swedish Superettan on Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old netted the solitary strike that earned Varbergs a 1-0 victory against his former club at the Påskbergsvallen.

Boakye left Östersunds FK after a three-season spell and joined Varbergs in search of a new adventure and promotion to the Swedish top-tier division.

On Saturday during an emotional clash with Östersunds FK, Boakye ensured he proved his quality to his former club by scoring a crucial goal that separated the two sides.

The goal also ensured Varbergs go five points within the reach of Östersunds FK who are placed second on the log.
