AFCON 2015: Ghana striker Appiah says hostile home crowd can't intimidate me
Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah says the hostile crowd expected in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations semi final clash against Equatorial Guinea would give him strength rather than intimidate him.
The Black Stars face the tournament hosts on Thursday for a place in Sunday’s grand finale which will be played in Bata.
Ghana have often stuttered at this stage of the competition in recent times.
Avram Grant’s side aside playing against a good Equato-Guinean side will also have to contend with the expected hostile crowd on Thursday.
The local media have played its role in rallying massive support for their side for the semi final clash.
An intimidating atmosphere is thus expected for the game in Malabo.
But striker Appiah who is only making his AFCON debut with the Black Stars this term says the ‘against’ support will only motivate him.
“It depends. Everybody sees it [semi final clash] differently,” he said.
“Personally I see that, obviously with the home nation, they’ll have the fans behind them and stuff like that and there will be a big crowd."
