Great Olympics moved from the relegation zone with a convincing 3-1 win over BA United on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Wonder Club needed to stop the rot and did just that by bullying their inexperienced opponents who were valueless.

On six minutes, makeshift centre-back Godfred Asante opened the scoring with belter from a free-kick from the edge of the box.

BA United goalkeeper Lawrence Osei looked hapless between the stick as Asante’s delivery came off the top corner of the post into the net.

The visitors were lethargic in midfield and their defenders committed some schoolboy errors and Olympics took advantage to punish the Apostles of Power Soccer.

In the 20th minute, Olympics went on the counter and midfielder Emmanuel Amartey went straight and pulled the trigger which was spilled by Osei.

Left-winger Francis Okai pounced on it and turned home to double the lead.

From the break, nothing changed and Olympics continued to mount pressure and netted the third through Okai who finished sneaked in at the back of the BA United defenders to chip the ball over on-rushing Osei in the 64th minute.

Four minutes later, United got a consolation from a spot-kick through Nana Egyir. This was after goalkeeper Osei Boateng whacked down Charles Oppong inside the box.

Boateng later had to come off as a result of the injury he picked up from the tackle.

Olympics are now 13th on the league table but one point above the danger zone.
