Ghana Premier League- Match Report: Bechem United narrowly beat Hearts of Oak
Bechem United piled pressure on giants Hearts of Oak after beating them 1-0 at the Gyeabour Park in Bechem on Saturday afternoon.
Young attacking midfielder Hamza Mohammed netted the only goal of the game five minutes before the break and Herbert Addo's men were unable to recover from the loss.
Hamza claimed a pass from inside the box and drilled a low shot beyond Seidu Mutawakil.
Hearts went into the game on the back of their unimpressive concession rate with head coach Herbert Addo introducing experienced legs - Robin Gnagne and Philip Boateng into his defence.
Togolese Foovi Aguidi also partnered Gilbert Fiamenyo upfront but the duo fired blank.
Hearts created decent chances in the early minutes of the game but Richard Yamoah and Eric Kumi all missed from close range.
Bechem came into the game strongly in the closing stages of the first-half and dully took the lead. It was true reflection of the moment as Hearts' attack seem lost at the thick of affairs and Bechem took advantage to score.
The Phobians returned from the break hoping to level the scoring but Malik Jabir's boys held on and defended gallantly until the game petered out.
The results mean Hearts will drop further down the table while Bechem United to push up the ladder. It also doubles as a sweet revenge for Bechem as Hearts defeated them 1-0 at the venue last season.

The truth is that only Kotoko has decent players to form a team in the league. All the other teams including Hearts have very mediocre squads. The gulf in squad quality between Kotoko and the rest is too wide a la Bayern Munich and the rest of the Bundesliga.
