Ghana FA rubbishes major Black Stars technical team overhaul report
Maxwell Konadu's job as the Black Stars assistant coach is safe after the Ghana Football Association rubbished a report on Friday claiming that Black Stars coach Avram Grant has requested an overhaul of his technical bench.
The GFA has downplayed the report insisting that no such request has been made by the Israeli manager whose technical team helped him to reach the final of the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
A report carried by a local website claimed that the Black Stars assistant coach Konadu is facing anxious wait over his future with the Black Stars.
The website reported that the GFA has granted Avram Grant’s request to make changes to his technical team - a claim that has been rubbished by the federation.
"There is no iota of truth in that report. The coach has not made any such demand and the GFA is not considering any such demand," the Director of Communications of the Ghana FA Ibrahim Sannie told GHANAsoccernet.com when asked about the report.
"If fact the coach praised his technical team when we met him on Monday to discuss the future plans for the team following the end of the AFCON.
"He never called for the replacement of any member or members of the technical team let alone Maxwell Konadu who has been his trusted assistant."
Grant was permitted to choose a physical trainer ahead of AFCON 2015 as it is the norm for the Black Stars to boost their technical team ahead of major tournaments.
It is expected that the Black Stars technical team to revert to its lean staff for the qualifiers for the 2017 AFCON and 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Konadu was appointed by his dismissed former boss Kwesi Appiah and has been with the team for the past three years.
