Ghana FA insists opening Premier League matches will go ahead today
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says opening matches in the country's top-flight will go ahead as planned despite a threat of a court injunction from King Faisal Football Club.
King Faisal, the club which caused the three-month delayed to the start of the league, slapped a fresh injunction on the leauge on Friday claiming it has secured another court mandate to halt the league.
However the GFA issued a stated on Friday night saying the matches will go ahead as planned as Hearts of Oak are scheduled to play WAFA of Saturday while BA United take on Bechem.
"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) can today confirm that all match-day-1 Premier League matches will be played as scheduled," the GFA statement read.
"Clubs, match-day officials and the general public are to disregard reports in sections of the media that the 2014/2015 First Capital Plus Premier League will not kick off on Saturday January 17, 2015 as planned."
King Faisal claim that they have served the injunction on the GFA's lawyer Thaddeous Sory but insiders says the letter has not been served on any GFA official.
Sory is one of the many legal advisers only work as a legal advisers of the GFA who are not officials of the federation.
