EXCLUSIVE: Ghana AFCON star Frank Acheampong signs two-year Anderlecht contract extension
Belgian giants Anderlecht have moved to extend the contract of their Ghana winger Frank Acheampong with a massively improved salary to prevent other clubs from swooping for his signature after playing for his country at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
The 21-year-old signed a two-year contract extension on Thursday night with his Belgian top-flight side leaving him at the club until 2019.
Anderlecht tabled the improved offer just 24 hours after he arrived from his native Ghana after playing for the Black Stars team that finished second in Africa's flagship competition.
“Frank Acheampong has extended his contract by two years," the Belgian giants announced on their official twitter account.
Acheampong joined the club in 2013 and was under contract until June 2017 but his association with the Ghana national team has caught the attention of several clubs in Europe.
This convinced the Belgians to improve his salary with the news deal and he will now at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock until June 2019.
Acheampong has made a total of 44 appearances for Anderlecht in the Belgian top-flight and scored five goals.
He was been on the radar on some European clubs in recent times.
