The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) are considering expanding their annual off-season Top 4 competition to involve teams that finished in the top six of the just ended season.

This move is to ensure that Asante Kotoko who finished 6th takes part in the competition.

GHALCA plan to use the participation of both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to attract sponsors for the competition.

The Executives of GHALCA fear the absence of Kotoko from the Top 4 competition will hurt their chances of securing sponsors.

There is thus considerations to have the competition expanded to involve the top six finishers in last season’s Premier League.

This however is not the first time GHALCA has tried to expand the Top 4 tournament.

It will be recalled that the body extended the completion to cover the top eight teams back in 2011 which they called the G8 competition.

GHALCA however remain indebted to participants of the G8 tournament which has since been reverted to the usual Top 4 tournament.
