Gerald Ankrah calls for patience from Hearts fans
Hearts Managing Director Gerald Ankrah has called on the club’s supporters to be patient this season, believing the side can challenge for honours.
The Phobians are smarting from a difficult start to life this season which has seen them move down on the Ghana Premier League table.
They could only manage a 1-0 win over AS Police of Benin in the preliminary stage of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.
Their fans have been unimpressed with the work ethics of the players and are demanding swift improvements ahead of the return leg in Cotonou this Sunday.
However, Managing Director Gerald Ankrah say there is no "magic formula" only hard work will pay off and wants the fans to be patient.
"Maybe the supporters were expecting a basket full of goals, but we must understand that we are playing an equally good team," he said
"They're a team that are representing their country and I believe that they played very well, they had a game plan and the game plan was to make sure that the goal margin stayed at it’s minimal.
"At the end of the day, I think we should have scored more goals because the opportunities came and we wasted most of them in this match. I believe that had we taking our chances, but we could have gotten 3 or 4 [goals], but at the end of the day, is football, we won 1-0 and is still a win. All we need to do is go back to the drawing board and look at how to play the away game.”
