AC Milan held Napoli to a scoreless draw at the Stadio San Siro on Saturday evening, leaving coach Gennaro Gattuso pleased.

Napoli had the better of proceedings and will return to Campania disappointed not to have taken all three points but the Rossoneri boss was happy with his side’s result.

“It’s not easy to stop Napoli,” he said at his post-match press conference.

“You have to work hard and it’s all about battling tiredness and taking responsibility.

“This kind of game is good.”

Hakan Calhanoglu had the Curva Sud on his back throughout the game and the entirety of the stadium whistled him when he was withdrawn late on, much to Gattuso’s fury.

“I did not like hearing the whistles for Calhanoglu,” he said.

“I would say it for all of the players but I cannot understand the whistles.”

New signing Krzysztof Piatek made his debut as a second-half substitute for Patrick Cutrone and Gattuso is pleased with the Pole.

“I like him. He’s curious.

“He watches everything and everyone.

“He is very enthusiastic and he reminds me of [Jon Dahl] Tomasson.”
