"?Gary Neville has gained a £300k-a-year pay-rise upon his return to Sky as a pundit, despite his awful time as boss of Valencia damaging his credibility.

The "?Daily Mail reports that the legendary Manchester United defender has secured the £300k pay-rise to see him earn £1.5m-a-year compared to the £1.2m-a-year prior to his time as manager of Valencia.

It is expected that the 41-year-old will pocket the £1.5m-per-year if he makes a minimum of 40 appearances across Sky's Premier League coverage along with any extras for the network.

While other pundits are paid via appearances on TV, the Englishman has earned a significant rise in pay as he was formerly regarded as one of the best pundits in the business before his management cameo in Spain.

Gary Neville, who was unexpectedly appointed despite not speaking any Spanish, made the foray into management with the La liga side last December. His time in Spain was, however, cut short as he failed to bring in the points, and, as a result, was relieved from his duties three months later in March of this year.

While in Spain, the former full-back endured a nine match win-less streak and was at the receiving end of a 7-0 massacre by champions Barcelona.

The new agreement with Sky means that Gary Neville cannot have any involvement with any other network, unlike Thierry Henry, who is Sky's highest-paid pundit, who worked with the BBC for the coverage of the European Championships this year in France.
