Friendly: Flying Eagles survive Zambia's test
Nigeria Flying Eagles got quiet a hard fought win over stubborn, Junior Chipolopolo of Zambia in their warm match ahead of the U-20 African Cup of Nations, AFCON built to hold in Egypt later this month, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The seven times U-20 AFCON champions edged 2017 winners by four goals to two in a pulsating encounter at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday.
After a cagey 40 minutes of play, the Ladan Bosso boys opened score courtesy of former Golden Eaglets winger, Sarki Haliru who scored with a ferocious shot.
The first half ended with the Nigerian team going to the dressing room with the 1-0 advantage.
At the start of the second half, the Zambian continued with the same tempo, composure purpose.
By the 50th minute, they got the equaliser to put the pressure on the home side, but Bosso's team came back to the lead 13 minutes later. Striker, Adams Olamilekan restored the lead for the Nigerian side.
The Zambians came back again three minutes later to cut short the joy of the Abuja fans with a goal to put the the two teams at equilibrium.
In the 77th minute, Emmanuel Uchegbu made it three to restore the lead for the Junior Eagles.
Samson Lawal gave the needed respite after his 87th minute goal doubled the margin to 4-2 which eventually secured the win for the Nigerian team at the regulation time.
