Foyth's injury mars triumph
Mauricio Pochettino is unsure how seriously Juan Foyth is injured after the Tottenham defender had to be stretchered off the pitch against Bayern Munich.
The 21-year-old had come on as a substitute at half time in the Audi Cup Final against the Bundesliga champions but less than 30 minutes later fell to the ground clutching his left ankle.
He initially needed help from two physios before eventually requiring a stretcher to take him back to the dressing room.
Foyth's injury could be bad news for Pochettino as he had been hoping to use his fellow Argentine at right-back following the sale of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid.
When asked about the defender after Spurs' 6-5 penalty shoot-out victory in Munich following a 2-2 draw, Pochettino said: "I will have to see the doctor but as Foyth left the pitch he said 'Gaffer I have tweaked my ankle'. We will have to see how bad it is."
Meanwhile, Pochettino said of his side's displays in the tournament against Real Madrid and Bayern: "Always it is better to win a tournament than to lose it - whatever the circumstances. I am very pleased with my players. We will take a lot of positives from this tournament.
"It has not been easy for us after losing the Champions League final. When something like that happens it is hard to get on your feet."
Tottenham host Inter Milan in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday before opening the 2019/20 Premier League campaign at home to Aston Villa on 10th August.
Spurs, 1/2 to finish in the top four this term, are 3/10 to beat Villa and 11/4 to win the match by a one-goal margin.
