Nigeria U-20 defender Samuel Opeh will move to Italian Serie B side Perugia this summer, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal. Opeh we gathered would have concluded the move last month but his involvement with the Nigeria U-20s in the qualifiers for next year Africa U-20 championship in Zambia held up the move.

However he is expected to travel for a routine medical with the Serie B side after Nigeria’s second leg tie against Burundi this weekend and could possibly sign a five year deal.

He was an unused substitute in the first leg tie in Burundi which Nigeria won 1-0 but the Ace Academy youngster is hoping to upset the central defence partnership of Lukman Zakari and Ejike Ikwu in the second leg tie this weekend after posting an impressive performance in their 1-1 draw against Unicem Rovers in a friendly game played yesterday.

Nicknamed Sergio Ramos by close friends and teammates he was a late omission from the team that conquered the world at U-17 level for Nigeria last year.
