Florian Wirtz questioned over expectations after Liverpool win over Brighton

Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz has responded to questions about the criticism surrounding his performances for the club.

The 23-year-old played 65 minutes in Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Brighton but did not register a goal or assist.

Wirtz continues to face scrutiny from some observers who believe he has yet to meet expectations, particularly given the size of the fee Liverpool paid for him.

Liverpool signed the Germany international from Bayer in the summer of 2025 for 125m euros.
