On-loan Bournemouth winger Christian Atsu has been named in Ghana’s squad to play Congo and Rwanda next month despite concerns about his fitness.

Atsu played his first competitive match for the English Premier League side last Tuesday in the 4-0 win over Hartlepool in the Carling Cup.

The 23-year-old lasted 75 minutes and convinced head coach Avram Grant about fitness level.

He scored in the 7-1 drubbing of Mauritius in June at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Atsu was named Most Valuable Player at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea where Ghana won silver.
