The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) celebrates Nigeria’s 35th anniversary of winning maiden U17 World Cup triumph in China in 1985.

The Sebastian Brodrick-Imasuen’s team won the inaugural edition of the cadet championship on August 11, after they defeating Germany 2-0 in the final in Beijing.

The World Football Governing Body posted the picture of the Golden Eaglets on their social media handle, in order to celebrate the occasion.

“????OnThisDay 35 years ago, Nigeria won the inaugural FIFA U-16 Championship in Beijing.” FIFA tweeted.

Nigeria has since then won the trophy four more times, 1993, 2007, 2013, and 2015, becoming only the second team since Brazil to win it back to back; making them the first team ever to win it five times.
