FIFA boss Sepp Blatter mourns coach Jones Attuquayfio's passing
FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter has sent his condolences over the passing of former Ghana international and coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio.
Mr. Blatter acknowledged the immense contribution made the late Attuquayefio to the development of football even beyond the borders of Ghana.
He further extended his condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones.
“Please accept my deepest condolences on hearing that former international player and manager Cecil Jones Attuquyefio have passed away. His contributions to the game will be remembered, especially for playing in the Ghana national team when it won the 1965 African Nations Cup as well as managing the Benin and Ghana national teams”, Mr. Blatter said in a letter sent to the GFA.
“On behalf of the members of the international football community, I should be extremely grateful if you could extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
“We would hope that in some way, our words of support may help a little of peace and solace in this time of sadness”, he concluded.

I had the honour of meeting and interviewing Cecil Jones Attuquayefio in Ghana in 2008. It was an eye-opening interview with a legend of African football - football really. He will be sorely missed. RIP.
