Fenerbahçe Linked With January Move for In-Form Iheanacho
Fenerbahçe are reportedly interested in signing Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Bursaspor when the January transfer window opens.
Turkish football pundit Ahmet Selim Kul has linked the Istanbul club with the Nigerian forward, citing comments from Bursaspor president Enes Çelik about the transfer speculation.
“There are reports that Fenerbahçe is interested; we've received intelligence to that effect, and it's pointing to this team being Fenerbahçe.
"Of course, Iheanacho makes a big difference. He's already a top-level name with his track record. There were Samsunspor rumours last year too.
"Fenerbahçe's foreign player quota is full right now, so they need to offload a player, but it looks like he'll be on the agenda in the mid-season window.”
Iheanacho has enjoyed an outstanding start to life at Bursaspor since joining the Turkish second-division side as a free agent.
The 30-year-old has scored in 12 consecutive league matches, recording 16 goals and three assists in 12 appearances for the Green Crocodiles.
His remarkable run has also seen him set a new scoring milestone in Turkish league football, becoming the first player to find the net in 10 successive league matches and surpassing the record previously shared by Galatasaray legends Metin Oktay and Saffet Sancakl?.
Fenerbahçe's reported interest comes as the Nigerian continues to attract attention with his performances, although any potential move will depend on the Istanbul club's ability to make room in their foreign-player quota.
