The final of the 2016 Federation Cup will hold on Sunday  at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, the Nigeria Football Federation has said.

The competition, which is Nigeria’s oldest football competition, will herald the close of the 2015/2016 football season in the country.

The men’s final will feature two Premier League sides, Ifeanyi Ubah and Nasarawa United, while the women’s final will feature Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens.

According to the NFF, the women’s final will hold before the men’s final on Sunday.

To book a place in Sunday’s final, IfeanyiUbah defeated Crown 2-1 in the semifinal while Nasarawa beat Enyimba 1-0.

The 2015 men’s champions of the competition Akwa United were eliminated in the early stages of the competition by finalists Nasarawa while Sunshine Queens, who won the women’s title in 2015, were also eliminated earlier in the competition.

The winners of the men’s title will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2017.
