Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has assured that newly signed Nigerian defender Leonard Ngenge will be given time to settle and develop at the club following his move from Remo Stars, as the West Yorkshire side outlines a long-term plan for the teenager’s growth, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The 18-year-old completed his switch earlier this week, signing a contract that runs until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Speaking ahead of Leeds United’s weekend clash with Everton, Farke stressed that while opportunities exist for all players, patience will be key in Ngenge’s case. “Everyone who signs a contract for us, for Leeds United, also has the chance to be involved,” Farke said in quotes published on the club’s official website. “That depends on performances at the youth level, impressing in games there, and also in training.

“And if you get the chance to be involved in team training, then you have a chance. But this is also a signing for our Under-21s.”

The German tactician was quick to play down any immediate expectations around the centre-back, making it clear that the club will not rush his transition into senior football. “There is no intention that we are greedy to involve him as soon as possible; it is more like a natural progression,” Farke explained.

“He will be with our youth, we will give him time to adapt, and it is not the plan to rush anything with him.”

This approach underlines Leeds United’s belief in structured development, with Ngenge expected to grow gradually as he adapts to the demands of English football and life at Thorp Arch.
