Veteran Colombian striker Radamel Falcao has admitted that he is considering his options, as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract with Monaco.

The 33-year-old has confirmed that he has not been offered a new deal at the Stade Louis II and will make a decision on his future in the coming days.

I think the club understands my position to give my family some peace for the future.

He said following a 1-0 pre-season victory over Sampdoria on Saturday: "The truth is that I still have a year of contract and the club did not offer me an extension. So I have to think about my future, my family.

"I am studying the offers I have been offered. These are good opportunities for my career and I have to think about my family.

"I still have only one year of contract and it's complicated for a player of my age. I think the club understands my position to give my family some peace for the future."

Falcao joined Monaco in the summer of 2013, having previously found the net on a consecutive basis for River Plate, FC Porto and Atletico Madrid.

During his time with Les Rouges et Blancs he has been loaned out to both Manchester United and Chelsea, before returning to his parent club to help Monaco claim the Ligue 1 title in 2017.

On the international stage Falcao has scored 34 goals in 89 appearances and is the record all-time goalscorer for La Tricolor.

Monaco open the new Ligue 1 season on Friday evening when they play host to Lyon, with the hosts hoping to avoid a repeat of last term when they flirted with relegation.

They can be backed at 33/1 to win the Ligue 1 title this season, while they are 7/2 to finish in the top three and 40/1 to be relegated.
