Former Ghana Premier League side Okwahu United is on the verge of being closed down and liquidated by administrators, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The second-tier side faces going out of business unless they can struck a deal with an investor in the coming days.

The soccer mountaineers are in serious financial crisis with the club facing a winding-up in the face of the mounting difficulties.

The board of directors resigned en-block two weeks ago with their head coach Sarfo Castro going AWOL in the lead up to their National Division One league opener against Dreams FC.

"I would like to invite strategic partnership offer from any individual or organization interested in football,” the club’s Life Patron Nana Somuah Mireku Nyampong III  said recently.

“Okwawu United is a viable entity which is worth investing in. I can boldly say that apart from Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, it is Okwawu United that has the highest number of match attendance.

“We have very prominent men in society who support our club and if all of them come on board to offer a helping hand to the club, we will be able to take good care of the players and the agitations within the club will be a thing of the past.”

Players vanished from camp due to the non-payment of their salaries running into several months.

There is no end in sight to the troubles confronting the side and will seize to exist if something drastic is not done.

Sadly a number of wealthy people are believed to be supporters of the club but have failed to invest, leading to their shameful and sorry state.
