Ghana striker David Accam played down fears that he might not be available for his country for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius next week as he will join the Black Stars after playing for his club on Friday night, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

There were serious doubts over the availability for the Chicago Fire attacker for next week's match against the Southern Africans after the American side claimed that they are not aware he has been called up for the crucial qualifying opener in Accra on 14 June.

That is because Accam is among the few players who have not arrived in the Black Stars training camp in Dodowa for the match while the claims by the coach of his club heightened fears.

The arrival of striker Abdul-Majeed Waris, who was not part of the original 23-man squad for the match, in the Black Stars camp in Dodowa has increased speculation that Accam might not arrive for the game against Mauritius.

However, Accam has assured fans that he is set to fly down to Accra after playing for Chicago Fire in their MLS clash with Orlando City.

"I'm going to travel to Accra after our game tomorrow," Accam told Ghana's leading football news outfit GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

Accam scored the consolation goal for Chicago Fire in their 3-1 reverse at DC United on Wednesday and is keen to repeat his scoring form for Fire during the weekend.

Not all the 23 players invited by the former Chelsea manager have reported to training with Trabzonspor's Abdul Majeed Waris training with the squad in Accra even though he was not originally invited.

Concerns were raised whether Accam will travel for the game after Frank Yallop declared the Chicago-based club had not received no official invitation from the Ghana Football Association for the attacker.

Grant travelled to the United States last month to watch Accam in action for Fire and also had a sit down talk with former first-choice goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey.

The Israeli gaffer fell in love with the former Helsingborg IF star and is keen to have his available in his fold for the clash against Mauritius.

Before the Mauritius clash next weekend, the Black Stars will take on Togo in an international friendly game ahead of the tie with the Islanders.
