Kuwaiti club Al Qadsia have expressed interest in securing Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila on a permanent basis when his loan spell expires at the end of the season, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old has been an instant hit since joining The Kings on a five-month loan deal from South African club Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this year.

Sumaila has put in a string of impressive performances to convince the club’s top hierarchy into seeking a deal that will keep him in Kuwait City for a longer period.

Al Qadsia officials have already contacted the agent of the Ghana international to inquire if a permanent deal will be feasible.

They will then put in a formal bid before the board of Mamelodi Sundowns for further considerations.

Al Qadsia are confident of sealing personal terms with the former Asante Kotoko loanee with a hefty pay rise.

The player has settled in well in Kuwait and is currently one of the leading performers in their domestic league despite his mid-season arrival.

He has also been a useful asset for the side in their continental challenge in the AFC Cup.
