Ex-Kotoko Executive Chairman Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong has made a chilling revelation about how current General Manager,  Samuel Opoku Nti, maligned him during his tenure, leading to his infamous exit.

The celebrated Chartered Accountant is reported to have told Kumasi-based Metro FM his personal assistant at the time worked against his administration with a view of landing the top job.

He labeled as unprofessional, unethical and regrettable the conduct of the current Kotoko General Manager and admits he feels hurt over his behaviour.

“Through the instrumentality of Mr Kwadwo Mpiani, former chief of staff of president Kuffour I employed Opoku Nti as my personal assistant and used my own money to pay him” Dr Sarpong is quoted by Kumasi based Metro FM.

“In spite of that, Opoku Nti goes ahead to take documents to Serebour to malign his boss. If I have done something wrong say it to me, treat me like your boss! Serebour has admitted and apologized; another man has also admitted and apologized. Because he wanted the job, but for me I never asked for the Kotoko job, it is not something I would ordinarily accept because I did not knew much about football”

“I used to pay him from my own money and they can come out and dispute that if that was not the case, he takes documents to Serebour and says if I travel I do this and do that. I mean it’s not fair! It is very painful unprofessional, unethical, regrettable!

” So if am saying I regret taking up the job, this is one of the basis.”

The 60-year-old quits the club in 2013 following mounting but unsubstantiated allegations of financial misappropriation.

He helped to re-brand Kotoko by securing multiple sponsorship deals locally and the famous partnership agreement with English side Sunderland.

He has begun work on the Kotoko Adako Jachie Project which involves a befitting training ground and office complex when he angrily left the post.

The former Tema Oil Refinery boss has also made attempts to revive the club’s academy which has been in shambles since he left.

Dr Sarpong won two back-to-back Ghana Premier League titles.

Since assuming the role, current chief Samuel Opoku, who holds a UEFA License B coaching certificate, has been criticized for his 'school boy' managerial style at the club
