England and Russia have both been warned by UEFA against further violence "?following unsavoury scenes at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Saturday night.

UEFA have stated that both countries could face disqualification from Euro 2016 if either set of supporters are caught in crowd violence for the duration of the tournament.

England's 1-1 draw with Russia was marred due to crowd trouble before, during and after the tie. A group of Russian supporters were seen storming at England fans upon the final whistle, prompting England fans to frantically escape the stands over a security gate.

Earlier today, Russia's sports minister Vitaly Mutko countered the claims of violence by blaming the lack of security presence as a reason for the skirmishes.

"There was no clash... That's being exaggerated, in fact everything is fine here," Vitaly Mutko told reporters."When the match ended, there was no barrier between the fans. The British were upset, of course, but it all quickly dissolved.

"Such matches should be organised properly. It is necessary to separate the fans [at the stadium].

"The bad thing is that there were firecrackers and flares," he said. "There were no nets. One must understand these things."

However, UEFA have refuted Mutko's statements, stating that they will not hesitate to potentially disqualify both England and Russia if further violence ensues.

UEFA to #RUS & #ENG: "Will not hesitate to impose additional sanctions... inc the potential disqualification ...should such violence occur"

Saturday night's sorry events mark the third consecutive day of violence with a number of arrests being made across Marseille and Nice.

Englands next encounter is against Wales on Thursday afternoon, while Russia next face off against Slovakia the day before on Wednesday.

Both sets of supporters will have to ensure no violent clashes occur for the duration of the tournament or risk facing an embarrassing early exit from Euro 2016.
